In August 2018 ICA-Art Conservation was approached and asked to manage and oversee the treatment of Turning Point. ICA engaged Thomarios, a fiberglass fabrication specialist subcontractor, to examine the exterior surfaces of the sculpture in the location they had been stored after deinstallation--horizontally oriented on foam and wood dunnage in a grassy lot of the perimeter of CWRU's campus. The pieces were carefully hoisted onto the bed of a truck and transported to Thomario's indoor facility. There the pieces were cleaned and pressure washed. Standing water that had gathered in the interior of some of the pieces was removed. External existing coatings were stripped, and the pieces were re-painted. When the treatment was completed, sculptures were transported via truck from Thomarios indoor facility to the installation site.
