This lovely painting attributed to Italian Baroque painter Salvator Rosa (1615-1673) is in the collection of the Zanesville Museum of Art in Zanesville, Ohio. Removal of the darkened varnish layer revealed extensive overpainting. Overpaint was removed. The paint surface was given one brush coat before inpainting. After the inpainting was complete the areas of inpaint were varnished. Now you can see the sea!
