This exquisite globe was made by J. Forest, a globe maker located in Paris in the 19th and 20th centuries. As the before image illustrates, this object was showing its age. In the paper lab, the globe was cleaned and loose dirt was removed using a brush and a HEPA vacuum. Consolidation was completed in areas where the world map was lifting from the globe support. Large breaks were reinforced and losses were infilled and inpainted.
