The Institute of Museum and Library Services supports all types of museums, from art and history to science and zoos, and all types of libraries and archives, from public and academic to research and schools. Eligibility requirements differ for each library and museum program.

The National Historical Publications and Records Commission is the grant-making affiliate of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Grants are made for collecting, preserving, and publishing documents and archives. The NHPRC supports projects including:

  • Preserving and making accessible records and archives
  • Improving professional education for archivists and historical documentary editors
