Art conservators work tirelessly to protect cultural heritage and preserve treasured artworks. At ICA, this year has been filled with fascinating projects that have challenged and inspired our team. From a 1910 Singer sewing machine with a tragic past, to a regal 18th-century French portrait, our team has worked on a remarkably varied group of unique projects this year.
One of the standout projects included a gas mask designed to look like Mickey Mouse. This distinctive object was not just a conservation challenge, but has also made our annual list of 'Staff Favorites.' Similarly, a 19th-century crayon enlargement of a magnificently-bearded mystery man made by an artist better known for his sculptures has made the cut.
We invite you to join our year-end webinar, where our conservators will share these stories and more. It's a behind-the-scenes look at the treatments that stole their hearts and tested their skills in 2025. This is a unique chance to peek behind the conservation curtain and learn about the meticulous care that goes into each project.
